Owner/Open Water Scuba Instructor

Scuba Savvy is intended to be a place where people can come to learn about diving, and once they become divers, a place to be surrounded by others that are equally excited about SCUBA.

My goal is to introduce as many people to diving as I possibly can. In that endeavor, the team at Scuba Savvy has a lot of fun. I could wax on poetically for hours about diving, but suffice it to say that diving has had a positive impact on my life, and I want to share that with others.

“Diving I thought at first, was something only possible for the people I see on television shows or movies. I never knew it was something that I could actually do, especially here in Oklahoma. Then I heard of classes being taught in Tulsa. I took the plunge and received my first Open Water certification in 2009. After that I was hooked! I still remember the feeling when underwater of being present where you are, not thinking of anything else or worrying about anything else, just being present and exploring what is around you. I knew then that this was something I really wanted to pursue. Diving has become a passion of mine ever since I took that first breath underwater! It has taken me places around the world that I never would have dreamed to go. From the making of lifelong friendships, to helping others enjoy and learn about diving, it’s about exploring, adventure, helping others and gaining awareness of our underwater world and how we can help protect it as divers. I hope that your life will be enriched and open up new possibilities for you as you learn about this great sport.”

Master Instructor; Freediving Instructor

I can still remember the feeling of taking my first breath underwater nearly 11 years ago in a pool at the Univ. of Texas in Arlington. The feeling of staying underwater instantly turned me into a scuba diving addict and I was hooked! Within two years I was working for a dive shop and completing my scuba instructor training. Soon after that I moved up to manager and worked at a shop in Fort Worth for over 6 years before moving to the corporate world (I do miss wearing shorts and flip flops every day). I am now a PADI Master Instructor and EFR Instructor Trainer and have had the pleasure of teaching beginning students all the way up to instructors.

I started my tech diver training and completed the Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures courses and was on my way to Trimix diving when I decided to take a Freediving Course. My first time freediving was again another moment I can still vividly remember and have absolutely fallen in love with this type of diving! In the past 4 years I completed all three levels of training offered by Freediving Instructors International and am always excited to get in the water! Freediving has become such a passion that I actually sold all of my tech gear and bought freediving gear.

I am excited to be a part of the Scuba Savvy family and am thrilled that I get to work with this amazing team. Their passion for diving is contagious and welcoming to all divers!

IDC Staff Instructor; EFR Instructor

In 2009, I took an open water course and it changed my life. I was so nervous but when I submerged, I fell completely in love with SCUBA and at that point, I knew I wanted to teach it! The feeling of being underwater is so peaceful, I became passionate about SCUBA and went diving every chance I could, all the while continuing my education and finally achieved my goal of becoming an SSI Open Water Instructor in 2011. In 2012, I completed my Advanced Open Water & React Right Instructor certifications. In 2014, I converted to PADI, and by working very hard, I became a Master Scuba Diver Trainer and last summer achieved the PADI IDC Staff Instructor and EFR Instructor certifications.

My biggest thrill is to watch my new students, who may be a little nervous, succeed in becoming the most awesome, safe, responsible, fun divers. In my classes, I strive to teach SCUBA fundamentals in a way that will make sense to everyone, while having fun. Upon graduation, my students become lifetime members of my “guppy club” and they are welcome and encouraged to come diving with me anytime!

I recently joined Scuba Savvy and can honestly say it is the best move I have ever made. Chad and the staff really care about people, and strive for the highest level of customer service. We want our students safe and happy! The store is clean, the gear is new, the team of Instructors and Certified Assistants/Dive Masters are awesome, and you are safe with us. What are you waiting for, let’s go diving!
